Resources

The popular media — print, radio, television, and online — are essential to the dissemination of information on environmental issues and their effect on our health, the economy and business.  It is extremely important journalists receive the clearest, most accurate information from scientists, economists, and those familiar with business practices and market cycles.  Below is a list of environmental news services and professional development opportunities for journalists.

Environmental News Services

Environment News Service (ENS)

ENS  is the original daily international wire service of the environment. Established in 1990 by Editor-in-Chief Sunny Lewis and Managing Editor Jim Crabtree, it is independently owned and operated.  ENS exists to present late-breaking environmental news in a fair and balanced manner.

Environmental News Network (ENN)

ENN  is one of the oldest, and most unbiased sources of online environmental news on the web. ENN has consistently earned the loyalty of the most respected insiders like the heads of sustainability at Fortune 500 companies, government leaders or leaders of the largest non-profits.  ENN’s editorial team publishes both original content, sourced affiliate news from our 44 Editorial Affiliates and gathers and filters articles from a variety of other news streams.

ClimateWire

ClimateWire is designed to bring readers unmatched coverage of the debate over climate policy and its effects on business, the environment and society. Climate issues have become so pervasive, and our clients’ interest in climate change has become so intense, that developing ClimateWire became an inevitable means to expand and enhance E&E’s already top-tier coverage of this critical issue area.

Greenwire

Designed for policy players who need to know what’s happening to their issues on Capitol Hill. From federal agency appropriations to comprehensive energy legislation, E&E Daily is the place insiders go to track their environmental and energy issues in Congress.

ONPOINT

Cutting-edge webcast program featuring in-depth interviews and analysis with compelling energy and environmental policy leaders. OnPoint is filmed and broadcast daily from E&E’s state-of-the-art studios on Capitol Hill. E&ETV’s broadcast quality sets the standard for Web-based video.

Center for Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado-Boulder

The CEJ was established in 1992 by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) at the University of Colorado at Boulder to enrich public understanding of environmental issues by elevating the quality, range and depth of coverage by journalists. The center does this by helping seasoned and emerging journalists enhance their knowledge of the scientific, economic, political and social aspects of these issues.

Knight Center for Environmental Journalism at Michigan State University

The Knight Center for Environmental Journalism at Michigan State University’s School of Journalism trains student and professional journalists to cover the environment.  The program offers numerous classes and professional workshops for the study and practice of environmental journalism.
