Shannon leads the Project for Improved Environmental Coverage. He brings a unique perspective having worked for a number of private and nonprofit organizations. His past includes time at The Nature Conservancy and helping organize the Global Roundtable on Climate Change at Columbia University’s Earth Institute. In the private sector, Shannon has worked as a manufacturing engineer with Motorola, General Motors, and Trane. Shannon also teaches courses on sustainability at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University.

Tyson is a social entrepreneur and leader in the environmental movement who has been developing new organizations and initiatives for nearly 20 years. Over this timeframe, he has completed an award-winning documentary on environmental education and founded or cofounded five organizations and/or national initiatives including Green Press Initiative, Project for Improved Environmental Coverage and Dream of a Nation. Tyson is currently the director of SEE Innovation and lives in Asheville, North Carolina with his wife and two boys.
